Jake Axford

Jake is a medicinal chemist with 20 years experience in the industry. Prior to joining Auron he worked at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research. He started his career in 2003 at the Horsham UK site as an apprentice, acquiring his BSc in Chemistry from the university of Greenwich via a part time course while working. Here he gained experience with kinase, GPCR, and ion channel targets for respiratory and gastro intestinal diseases before moving to the Cambridge US site in 2011. Since then he has worked on a multitude of areas and modalities including several splicing modulator projects, covalent inhibitors, prodrugs, and both glue and bifunctional degraders for cardiovascular, neuro science, respiratory, ophthalmology, hematology, and imuno oncology targets.

Outside of work his time is largely consumed by entertaining his 1 year old son and 2 year old Irish wolfhound. When he can find time he enjos getting outside for camping, mountain biking, or snowboarding and has recently taken up indoor bouldering.
