Maulasri Bhatta, PhD

Senior Scientist, I

Maulasri (Mauli) joined Auron Therapeutics in September 2022 as Senior Scientist I, Translational Biology. Prior to joining Auron Therapeutics, Mauli was an HRI scientist at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, where she was involved in understanding the role of Th2 immune responses as well as lipid mediators in solid tumors. Mauli’s first foray into cancer therapy was during her role as a Senior Scientist at Immune Modulatory Therapies LLC (IMT), an immuno-oncology company in Buffalo, NY where she was involved in the preclinical development of novel therapeutics that target immunosuppressive extracellular vesicles called exosomes in the microenvironment of solid tumors in order to rescue T cell function and ultimately suppress tumor growth. While working at IMT, Mauli has been involved in developing cell-based assays as well as in vivo tumor model development to access tumor progression and immune function. She was also involved in writing grants to procure funds for the company and was the main point of contact for key collaborators. She earned her Ph.D. in neuroscience from University at Buffalo, NY, where she worked on identifying cellular as well as molecular mechanisms that regulate diabetic retinopathy. Mauli also has an M.Tech. in Biotechnology from Dr. D.Y. Patil Institute of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, Pune, India.

Mauli lives with her husband and daughter in Massachusetts. She enjoys hiking, travelling, NFL and cricket, trying exotic food and adventure sports.
