Associate Director/Director, Translational Biology
Job Summary
This influential position will lead biology on one of Auron’s pipeline programs as well as leading validation of additional targets in Auron’s early portfolio. This role will require close collaboration with our computational biology colleagues, as well as our drug discovery team, and external CROs. The level of this position will be commensurate with applicant’s relevant experience.
Key responsibilities
- Guide and influence research strategy in both preclinical research and ultimately clinical development
- Advance research programs from early target ID and validation to clinical POC studies
- Coordinate project team activities and efficiently drive execution of Auron’s drug discovery programs and company goals
- Lead and direct interactions with CRO and academic collaborators
- Supervise and mentor career development of scientists in the biology team
- Represent the company at external scientific meetings
YOUR BACKGROUND
- Ph.D. or equivalent in Biology, Translational Science, Oncology, or related field
- Minimum of 8 years of industry experience preferably in oncology drug discovery
- Extensive experience as either a team member or team lead on multiple drug discovery programs at various stages of drug discovery
- Proven experience leading teams and a desire to mentor early-career scientists
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across functions
- Hands-on mentality and the ability to focus on details in moving projects forward
- Ability to think critically and creatively in a fast-paced research environment
- Willingness to take risks and work in an innovative and collaborative environment
- Adaptability, commitment to scientific excellence, and team member mentality is a must
- Experience working closely with computational biology to extract learnings and new directions from omics data is preferred
- Experience with CRISPR screening methods for target ID is preferred
- Research experience in developmental and differentiation biology is preferred
- Extensive experience in managing CROs is highly desired
