Senior Scientist, Translational Biology

Job Summary

Auron is looking for an enthusiastic Sr. Scientist to grow our solid tumor translational biology team. The successful candidate for this translational biology role will have strong experience in cell & molecular biology as well as target validation & mechanism of action studies. The candidate will be responsible for the development and execution of in vitro assays for novel small molecule therapeutics from target identification through clinical development. Development and management of junior scientists is integral part of the role and what we believe in culturally.  CRO partner oversight will also be required. The ideal candidate is organized, independent, technically creative and is excited to excel in a lab-focused, scientific role.

Key responsibilities

  • Optimization and execution of in vitro cell-based assays to probe new targets of interest and elucidate molecular mechanisms of action for therapeutic agents.
  • Handling and characterization of primary cells and tissues from fresh and frozen stocks.
  • Execute experiments from ongoing projects and lead from the bench–bringing original ideas forward and testing them experimentally to drive key decisions.
  • Support and help coordinate efforts with CRO and academic collaborators.
  • Contribute to cross-functional internal project teams by presenting data to key stakeholders.
  • Support work needed for external publications and conference presentations.


  • Ph.D. or M.Sc. with extensive experience in Biology, Translational Science, Oncology, or related field.
  • More than 2 years industry experience is required; working in target validation and/or small molecule drug discovery.
  • Lab skills desired:
  • Strong tissue culture experience, lentiviral preparation & infection, gene knock-in/knock-down, cell viability assays, flow cytometry, qPCR, western blotting, ELISA.
  • Experience working with primary tissues or cells is a plus.
  • Professional skills desired:
  • Ability to manage and develop junior scientists.
  • Familiarity working with biology CROs is desired.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple workflows, and work independently.
  • Ability to think critically and creatively in a fast-paced research environment.
